It would have made sense to have a friendly “welcome back” post to start off the year, but instead I have decided to mention a few welcome back surprises that Babson gave out.  As you could guess from the title, this is about the new dorm.  (Everyone knows that the old dorms suck, so we’ll leave them out of this…)

With most students having moved in on Monday, and with no class till Wednesday, there would surely be some partying.  There was, but the partying in Map Hill took place in the dark thanks to an unexpected power outage!  Anyone pack a flashlight?  Don’t get me wrong, but wouldn’t they have load tested the building beforehand?

Even better was the fire alarm which brought in about five fire trucks and all of the local cops.  An ambulance too.  Was it a drill?  Nope.  Word has it that one of the AC units exploded!  Ok, so that may be a big exaggeration, but apparently one of the AC units did start blowing smoke, causing the big fiasco.
