I'm that guy that dressed like Urkel for Halloween and wrote the note on facebook. Ok, I didn't call the campus racist. There was a question mark suggesting that people should think about whether or not is. Honestly, I like Babson a lot and in general I think that it's a great school. However, there are a number of serious issues that go unchecked and unpunished. I don't see why so many people are calling for a zero tolerance policy towards public acts of hate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Honestly, I'm over the issue that happened on halloween. More than anything, I want to see Babson take action to educate the campus about different cultures and about respecting those cultures. Babson has the potential to be a an amazing institution and I want to see that come to fruition.

I'm sorry, but until the facts are in people should refrain from beating drums and jumping on a bandwagen. I certainly do not know them, but I am also very very tired of the PC police squashing anything that has a SHRED of a possibility of mabye being done with evil intent.

Those who jump to protest too fast should take a long hard look at themselves. Look at the Duke rape protests?

Sadly, there are a number of people who make a very good living by screaming about race issues. I really hate these guys as they add nothing to society, and just make us all hate each other a little more.

People need to learn that if something offends them they should either ignore it, or if it REALLY annoys them go do what the above says.

So Babson will probably hire some more highly paid race consultants, and everyone will ignore the real problems of the school to witch hunt bigotry (which probably is not here).

To be honest, I am offended that Babson supporst groups like the BSU and the Asian Student Association, but does not have a White Student Association. I call on everyone to protest that!

I have a dream...that one day funding and recognition will not be given to groups based upon the color of their skin, or national origin, but on similar interests and hobbies and plans for the future....

Just another update about our racist campus; on Saturday, from noon to five pm, is the Black Affinity Conference.

Taken from the Affinity Conference's website, "The Black Affinity Group is dedicated to strengthening ties between alumni and students to engage these two groups in a meaningful manner. The annual conferences provide alumni with an updated view of the college's efforts to recruit and retain students of color; provide a forum for students and alumni to share views on strategies of recruitment, retention, and alumni involvement; and to develop plans to move forward around these college initiatives."

Is this whole campus really racist?

I didn't see it and just keep hearing different things so I'm still trying to figure out what happened. In the mean time, since we're not allowed to talk about it as that could interfere with the judicial process, I'll have to sit back and do nothing.

Who knows, maybe the kid did it just to get something like this started? Maybe we should be thanking him... only time will tell.

Okay...are you serious right now? Are we serious enough to write a call to action to address this HUGE ISSUE Babson..."This is not a minority issue, this is a Babson College issue. This is about stereotypes, cultures, sexism, religious beliefs, and all the issues we should address."

I'm sorry but you failed to include GENDER, SEXUALITY AND CLASS. Funny that when one year ago, a fellow classmate gets their car bashed with a baseball bat and the Babson community does nothing in response except for an email from Public Safety saying that, "Hate is not a Babson Value".

The actions for both crimes are not matched equally which says something about the disconnect b/w the students and staff at Babson and discredits the "ONE-NESS" of the protest. While I have described this campus as cold and competitive inside and outside of the classroom, I have to taken the time to say that there are some faculty and staff who defy Babson's reputation and promote tolerance.

Sorry kids, in case you hadn't noticed...our campus is charged with the "issues" mentioned above. I sat in an IME class where the students response to the average American wage was $45,000. If you are nodding your head in order to agree, you are wrong ::SLAP::

While I have seen black Babson students dress as preppy Biso's, I also saw the individual who painted his face black proclaiming, "Yea...I'm a Black guy, you don't see those often on campus." How many Babson students were dressed as Babson students this Halloween? A handful....

We have failed eachother by not EDUCATING EACHOTHER!
