Porsche, Meet Tree
The latest news around Babson involves a late-night car crash that killed two Babson students last night. No names were revealed, but the news clearly shows a maroon Porsche. The car is said to have struck a tree at excessive speed and then burst into flames.
For a good news recap along with a video, check out this story.
Also, there is a gathering in Babson’s Chapel at 1 PM. In the mean time, if you want to visit the scene, just take a stroll down Forest St to Berkshire St, which is right after Abbot St. You’ll see a huge tree on your left - it’s kind of obvious where the accident was.
Nichols Lot is full of camera crews as we speak, so I’m sure there will be plenty more to come on this story.
Hopefully in the end parents will learn something from this. This is the perfect example of why you should not buy expensive, powerful sports cars for your children (especially if they haven’t been to specialty driving schools.) Sorry to be blunt, but that’s the truth.

I agree. Some people may think you are insensitive for what you said, but it’s the truth. I heard the other car of Babson students who witnessed it all was actually racing with the Porsche. Don’t know if that’s true- I certainly hope it’s not.
I heard the same rumor.
having two students die is tragic. to have it occur under such senseless conditions… well, i can’t even find words for that type of loss. it’s terrible for the friends and family that they left behind. those people are the ones that hurt in the long run, they can never sufficiently answer that brutal question of ‘why.’
it’s a sad and somber day at babson. but i couldn’t help but reflect as i walked past a line of 5 reporters and cameramen on my way to the horn… is this what babson will be remembered by?
i’ve never seen so many reporters at babson

To the writer of the first post.
your lack of understanding for such a sensitive matter just makes you sound like an idiot. To point fingers at the parents for such an incident is utterly non sensical. regradless of the fact that he owned a porsche and that his parents loved him and tried to make him happy…..
you seem to trivialize this tragic incident. “take a stroll” down forest.? Im guessing what “you drive what a pick up truck.” Maybe the larger lesson is that people who lack sufficient details should comment on things they know nothin about.
I know this for a fact they were not racing.
I hope their friends and family find some solitude in the fact that they were greatly appreciated and loved.
although the author of the first post probably should have used more compassion in their post, i think they echo a sentiment that i have heard many times since this accident has occurred.
the speed limit on the street was 30 miles per hour. cars do not burst into flames at 30mph. racing or not, they were driving extremely fast - putting not only their lives in danger, but the lives of other innocent people on the road.
that carelessness, that lack of compassion and awareness for the people around you - is something that has bothered me personally and probably was the motive for the first post. today our campus is missing two people because one person decided to show off.
i’m sorry for your loss, aaa, but i think the author of the first post brings up an issue that deserves discussion.

Yo crapmaster, I’m proud to say that I met the man who wrote that article and that he has also been introduced to this site. After leaving the chapel for the first service, me and a few other outstanding young men decided that the media shit show was about to end. I knew both the Ish and Angad and as tragic as the event was, we didn’t want Bason capitalizing on the publicity it was allowing to be generated. I mean come on, they kept the news out after I found my roommate hanging in the bathroom. So we walked down and stood in front of their cameras. Thankfully for once, even after telling the Babo officer I’m a writer for this site, the cops still had our side and did nothing to support the media. They even told them to back off when I was fired up and one tried to push me out of his way. Good to see babo on our side (somewhat) again. I’ll be preparing my media and Babo administration bash over the weekend
they were coming from mcdonalds. if babson had late night food somewhere, it wouldn’t have happened.
btw, the dude drove like a dick anyways, it was a matter of time
to elliot.. and other,
i agree with you the idea may warrant further discussion. i personally dont think thats where the blame lies. I blame the lack of good judgement . “speed”
Babo warrants an entire new thread.
honestly, i agree with the parent statement. YES, this is tragic, and YES this is very sad, but what did i learn… even if i make millions, my kids will be driving LARGE, safe, and slow cars.
to the girl who said that wasnt the issue? …. go away. you are not wanted here.

The same crash can happen in a ford fiesta guys. I graduated Babson several years ago, and had a yellow ferrari, and drove in a “spirited” way, and never had a problem. It’s up to the person to be responsible.
